Love mushrooms? Fancy growing your own but not sure where to start?

The Nottingham Forager and Shop Zero are teaming up to bring you an Oyster mushroom growing session where you’ll build your own simple fruiting bucket using recycled and sustainable materials. Everything is included and you can take your bucket home with you.

Fancy hunting wild ones? Got that covered too.

We’ll talk about the legal and ethical aspects of foraging, how much you’re allowed to take, and how much you really should (hint: we like to make sure there’s more than enough left for wildlife as well as us to eat), as well as looking at medicinal and traditional uses of mushrooms

Join us for a relaxed, one and a half hour long session complete with freshly infused mushroom coffee to sample. You can even get your zero waste shopping done afterwards! Make sure to bring your containers and get 10% off any Shop Zero purchases during the evening.

We can’t wait to share the love of mushrooms with you, Lucy and Sarah x

The 1.5h session costs £35. All materials and refreshments are included. This experience is part of Shop Zero’s Sustainable Living programme. The event will be held in our Basement learning space at 42a Friar Lane, NG1 6DQ. The venue is just 5 minutes from Market Square in the centre of Nottingham, close to the tram and central bus drop-off points.

The workshop space is accessed from the Shop via some steps.

This event is limited to 6 people only. COVID safety measures will be in place as required.

The workshop runs from 7pm-8.30pm. You are welcome to come a little earlier to look around the shop.

Every attendee will get 10% off any purchases at Shop Zero on the evening of the workshop.

I had a lot of fun during this evening of mushroomy goodness. It was informative and educational, very interactive, engaging and good value.

We got to try a mushroom infused coffee while learning why it’s a good thing to consider plus it’s origins.
Lots of chat about the whats, wheres and whys of mushrooms and mycelium, plus a brilliant hands on with the actual making-of-the-kit (again, with great understanding of why we were doing what we were doing, how to care for it, why it works etc).

Fantastic end to the session with some seasonally appropriate ‘wild mushroom foraging’ tips, which have already come in handy as I’ve found and eaten my first delicious Dryads Saddle.

I really enjoyed the workshop and Lucys enthusiasm.
