These are the perfect eco-friendly dish sponges made from recycled fabrics.

Pack of 2 sponges which are durable, washable as well as reusable. They are locally made from materials that would have gone to landfill. This includes off-cuts of fabric and coffee bean sacks.

You can choose between recycled wadding or organic kapok filling.

Recycled wadding:

  • Dries quickly and works really well
  • You can send your recycled wadding back to us. We will return it back to The Zero Waste Maker to recycle it into a new re-usable sponge.

Organic Kapok:

  • Natural material which will biodegrade when chopped up and placed in home composting

Put in the washing machine every 3-4 days. Don’t leave standing in water. Make sure to wring out and leave to dry after each use.

Please note: The sponges are made from reclaimed materials so the patterns may vary.

I wanted to like it but I feel they don’t drain well.

I’m sorry that you didn’t find this product to drain as well as you hoped. They do need to be squeezed out a bit. They can be put straight into the washing machine after use. And used straight from the washing machine without need to dry them. Just make sure to rinse well after use.

Great idea however I personally feel that they are too chunky for handwashing items such as glasses and cups. Nonetheless, they do wash really well and have a ‘scrubbier’ side.

Thanks for the review Beth. That’s useful for people to hear that the sponges are a bit chunky for your glasses. As they are made from fabric that would otherwise got to waste, these sponges come in slightly different sizes. So if people were looking for smaller ones, we can advise. Or indeed recommend a dish brush etc. that would work for glasses too.
