Description

Wildflower seedballs, to help bring back the Bees!

These wildflower seedballs are made by a family company in Dorset, Beebombs. The company’s aim is to increase wildflower growth. This, in turn, supports bee and butterfly populations.

Sadly, 97% of native British Wildflower habitat has been lost since World War 2. Wildflower habitats are fantastic for bees and butterflies, so this decline has affected our nation’s biodiversity. Beebombs help to re-create these lost habitats.

Specification:

This pack contains up to 10 Beebombs. The seed balls contain 1000s of seeds from 18 native wildflower species. The seeds are mixed with protective Dorset clay which has been sifted with nurturing top soil.

The seed mix is Yarrow, Common Knapweed, Wild Carrot, Lady’s Bedtstraw, Rough Hawkbit, Ox-eye Daisy, Ribwort Plantain, Cowslip, Self Heal, Corn Marigold, Yellow Rattle, Common Sorrell, Salad Burnett, White Campaign, Red Campion, Common Poppy, Cornflower and Corn Camomile.

The majority of the seeds chosen are on the Royal Horticultural Society’s ‘Perfect for Pollinators’ list. Read more about the RHS ‘Perfect for Pollinators’ here.

1 pack covers roughly 21 sq ft / 2m².

Beebombs use only sustainable packaging, natural Hessian. And no ‘one single use plastics’.

Directions:

Growing Beebombs needs no gardening skills. But there are things to consider. Scatter the seedbombs straight onto cleared ground. Water liberally.

Sow at any time of year. However, sowing in Autumn or Spring can support growth. Wildflowers are hardy and adaptable, but they grow slowly. Sowing onto cleared soil means the seedlings are less likely to be out-competed by faster growing grasses and perennial weeds during critical early growth.

The soil in the ball will help your seeds germinate and the clay will protect them as they dissipate.

Sun, rain and time is important. Around 20% of flowers will start flowering in the first year. Biennials and Perennials in the mix will start blooming in the 2nd year.
