Ever had chocolate tea?

Often see as a waste product from chocolate making, we have a much better use for the outer shells from the roasted cacao nibs – brew them into a beautiful, light chocolate-y tea. With a natural sweetness and wonderful aroma you’ll also get to add some vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to your life. Plus a natural compound called theobromine, which can provide a gentle energy boost while relaxing the body, decreasing blood pressure, improving brain function, and supporting healthy digestion, circulation and respiration. Wow!

We are so lucky to stock these little beauties from Nottingham-based Luisa’s Vegan Chocolates. Luisa is devoted to sourcing the best cocoa beans which also support female cacao farmers directly. This means families are well looked after and so is the environment where the cacao plants are grown.

If you love chocolate  (like I do) you’ll love to chance to try these on their own in brew, or add a sprinkling to your favourite loose leaf tea brew. Or even use to flavour gin or vodka!

Directions

Just add a couple of teaspoons into your favourite tea (or tea on its own) in an infuser. Add just off the boil water. Let brew for 5-7 minutes. Why not try adding 1/4 tsp of Chai spices, or a 1/4 tsp of ground Cinnamon, or a tsp of vanilla extract. Experiment with quantities until you have the tea at the strength and flavour you prefer.
